Monastery of  Batalha

Starting from Lisbon, we went to the interior of Portugal. Alcobaça is our first destination, a monastery built in the 12th century, based on the Cistercian Order, which in this monastery evokes simplicity and spirituality and also where we can contemplate one of the most beautiful tombs in the region, the tombs of Inês de Castro and D .Pedro I.

At the next stop the imposing Monastery of Batalha deserves all the prominence with its first double tomb in the chapel of the Founder and its magnificent unfinished (or imperfect) chapels. Nearby we stop at a restaurant where the food is authentic and traditional.

After a well-deserved stop, we visit our last site, the templary castle and the convent of Christ, which, with its 14th century tray and the 16th century window, transport us to medieval times.
